CurvieBirdie Watch; Melissa McCarthy

Well, this curvie diva is doing it again!  She will be launching her own fashion line!  I am super excited about her doing something as big as this.  One thing that I did not know about this CurvieBirdie is that she studied clothing and textiles at Southern Illinois University (Yes, I'm an Alum too!)  So she well be very vocal in this collection. 

The reason why Melissa decided to start the line is because she was turned down by 6 famous designers that refused to dress her for award shows.  So sad that designers won't step up for a challenge.  Also, she is tired of shopping and only finding frumpy items to choose from.  I know the feeling honey!  Can't wait to see what she comes up with!

CurvieBirdie Watch: Our Fav Melissa McCarthy

Our favorite CurvieBirdie Melissa McCarthy has done it again!!  She is on the cover of fashion magazine ELLE !!!  She has done so much to breakdown the size-ism stereotypes of Hollywood. I so love this chick!!

OMG!!  Doesn’t she look so amazing.  Just super gorge!  And it looks like she has dropped some lbs in this picture as well.  Here is an insert from the magazine below.

Hello CurvieBirdies.  This weekend, one of my favorite CurvieBirdies, Melissa McCarthy’s new movie came out.  It is also staring Sandra Bullock.  When I say this movie is funny, please believe me!!!

In case you didn’t know, Melissa McCarthy is a homegirl!!!  She is from Plainfield, IL!!!  So please support this curviebirdie and let the critics know that talent doesn’t come in “one size fits all!!”

The weekend is over and its time to get back to the grind.  I am not sure if any of you watched the MTV Movie Awards, but one of my favorite Curvie Ladies was in the building.  Ms. Melissa McCarthy.  Ya’ll know I love this lady.  I this she is hella funny and talented!!

CurvieBirdies and the Oscar’s Red Carpet

Well I hope everyone had an excellent weekend.  So last night was the Oscars and the CurvieBirdies were out I full effect!!

CurvieBirdie Watch: Melissa McCarthy

Happy Friday everybody!!  Today, I want to talk about the FABULOUS Melissa McCarthy!  As some of you all know, she is the star in the new movie "Identify Theft."  This CurvieBirdie is so fricken funny; I don't know how anyone cannot love her!  She was also the hilarious lady from Bridesmaids and the show Mike and Molly.

So last week when Identity Theft opened at the box office, the critic Rex Reed made some horrible remarks about Melissa.  In his review, Rex said "McCarthy is a "gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success."  Also, he called her a tractor-sized, humongous, obese and a female hippo!

Are you kidding me?  He has the nerve to speak on her weight?  Have y'all seen him?



I know there is a lot we can say about this picture, and he is not a small dude either!!  Apparently, Jenny McCarthy and the director of this latest film both have spoken out and it is not good for Rex!!

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig tweeted, "I cordially invite Mr. Rex Reed to go f--- himself."  YES!!  Say that!  It is a shame that someones talent can be down-played and criticized due to their weight.  Size-ism is real people!!  I do commend those that have spoken out about this.

Melissa is a very funny woman, and she is definitely a CurvieBirdie worth supporting!!!

And the Oscar Goes to . . .

Last night was Oscar Night, and the fabulous fashions did not disappoint.  Here are the CurvieBirdies showing their gorgeous gowns of the evening.

Melissa McCarthy’s dress is one of my favorites.  It is so beautiful and elegant.  It was a custom blush colored Marina Rinaldi gown with a jeweled neckline detail.

Viola Davis won all of our hearts in “The Help” where she played a nanny/housekeeper when Jim Crow Laws where still in effect.   Viola wore a custom Vera Wang emerald green corseted faille gown with floral crystal applique and draped chiffon pleated skirt. Not only is this woman extremely talented, but I love the fact she wore her own natural hair to the Oscars.

Michelle Williams look stunning as always in this Louis Vuitton gown.  This is my favorite dress of the evening.  It is simply elegant.  Who knew you could move from Dawson’s Creek to the Oscar red carpet!!

Octavia Spencer is gorgeous in this  Tadashi Shoji dress.   I can’t even think of words to describe how beautiful the dress is and she was .  Congrads on your first Oscar!!!!
