Something to chirp About: Gwynnie Bee

It's Friday, the end of the month, and the offical start to summer!!!  I hope everyone is ready for summer and some fun!!!

I just so happened to run across this website  and was super shocked that something like this existed.
I just had to share it with my CurvieBirdies!!  Gwynnie Bee is an online clothing rental store geared towards CurvieBirdies!!!  The sizes run from 10 - 28.  It works like Netflix.  You pick the pieces you want to borrow and add to your account.  Then depending on how many pieces you sign up to receive at a time, they ship the items out to you.  You can keep them as long as you want.  Once finished, send the items back and the next batch of clothing will be sent out to you.  Now how awesome is that!!!

They have super cute and brand-named items!  Look:

When you first sign up, you are given a 30 day free trial to try the service.  So sign up ladies and send pics!!

Have you ever heard of Gwynnie Bee?  Would you try it?  If you are already a member, how has your experience been?

A Little Birdie Told Me: Overweight States

Good afternoon CurvieBirdies!  I hope everyone had an awesome holiday weekend full of family, fun, and food!!!!  I was sitting back thinking as I was laying on the couch with the "itis" about overweight stats.  I was wondering what parts of the country had the most overweight people.  S/N: Also wondering if those states had the best cookouts this weekend!!  Anyway, I wanted to take this post and drop some stats on ya'll.  Do you think you know what the most overweight state is?  How about the lowest percentage of overweight?  Well here is something that you might find enlightening:

Something to Chirp About: Freedom Paradise Resort

Hey Curviebirdies.  How you ever wanted to go to the beach for vacation, but didn't feel comfortable wearing a swimsuit?  Or do not go to the pool in the summer due to being embarrassed about your size?  I know that there are a few curviebirdies out there that feel this way.  Well, I recently found out about a resort that caters to plus sized vacationers.

Per management, "We have hired personnel of all sizes, and have specially trained our slim staff, because there's a lot of discrimination in everyday life," said Jurriaan Klink, commercial director of the resort, about 85 miles south of Cancun. " There are a lot of people who put off vacations, saying 'I'll buy that bikini when I lose 15 pounds.' We say, why wait to lose weight, when you can enjoy life now?"

I love the beach and I love the water.  I do not have an isssue wearing a swimsuit, because I love the water and ya'll know I think ima mermaid!!!  However, I do like the idea that there is a vacationing place for curviebirdies to go that is friendly and sensitive to their needs!!  Call your travel agent to book!

Do you wear swimsuits?  Would you feel comfortable going on vacation or to the pool with your swimsuit on?  Would you feel more comfortable wearing a swimsuit at a resort that caters to curviebirdie needs?

A Little Birdie Told Me: Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Needs to Get a Clue!!

Happy Hump day CurvieBirdies.  Last week I was quite disturbed by the statements of Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Michael Jeffries.  According to this Botox clown,  "In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids. Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don't belong (in our clothes), and they can't belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely."

Dude, are you kidding me?  Not all cool kids are a size 10 and below.  If he thinks that way, I doubt that Abercrombie & Fitch will continue to be successful as a brand.  There have been tons of media outrage over these comments as well.  One movie producer decided to give homeless people some Abercrombie & Fitch clothing to wear, making the brand #1 in the homeless sector!!!

Also, a Washington, DC women actually packed up all her childrens Abercrombie & Fitch clothing and returned them all to the CEO's office saying that her cool, beautiful, thin children will never wear his brand again!!!  Go momma!!!

So what are your thoughts about these comments?  If you are a CurvieBirdie that can wear a size 10 or less, does this change your view on the brand?  Do you support the CEO's vision?

A Little Birdie Told Me: Celebrities and Weight Loss Surgery

Happy Hump Day Curviebirdies.  I have been watching the news today, and there has been so much focus on Gov. Christie and him having weightloss surgery.  I don't understand why America is making such a huge deal about Christie's weight and him having the surgery.  Does your weight define who you are?  Also, does his weight affect him doing his job as a Gov.?  I know the media has been saying that his weight will affect him in his current job and will affect him if he ever runs for president.  It seem that they think he will die in office because of his weight, so he shouldn't run for presidency.  Doesn't make sense to me at all!!

Other celebs that have had weight loss surgery:

Al Rooker

Carnie Wilson

Roseanne Bar

Star Jones

Sharon Osbourne

So what are you thoughts on weightloss surgery?  Would you have it?  Do you think that your weight affects your performance at work?

A Little Birdie Told Me: Curvie Style Tips

Hello CurvieBirdies. I was cruising the web, and I found this article on Ivillage.com about curvie dressing tips.  And ya’ll know I had to share the info with my curvie readers!!  There are so really good ideas here.  Take a look!!

1.  Go Monochromatic

Octavia Spencer has this look on lock! She wears a series of monochromatic dresses. It’s a strategy that’s great for lengthening and slimming a curvy frame—without wearing black or navy says.  Also the sleeve end in just the right place to cover up fullness at the top of the arm but still shows skin.

2.  Try a Trench Coat

Oprah Winfrey proves that you don’t need to wear a gown to look amazing after dark!  The softly skirted bottom skims over her lower body.  So invest in a knockout evening coat made of brocade, satin or raw silk. Worn with slim pants and heels, it’s as formal as a cocktail dress but with more coverage!!

3.  Wrap It

If you have an hourglass figure like Jill Scott, chances are you have a few waist-defining, curve-skimming wrap dresses you wear to work.  But don’t think they’re just for day. This can be a fabulous choice for evening, too. I love how Jill’s look is shimmery, sexy and hits her in all the right places!

4.  Skim Your Silhouette

Mo’Nique’s silver dress is from one of Tadashi Shoji’s ready-to-wear collections. Similar styles ($300-400) quickly sold out at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales.  The length of the skirt and the elegant neckline are perfection, showing off Mo’Nique’s collarbones and calves—and they’d do the same for anyone who wears a size 12 or larger.  Perfect for CurvieBirdies!!

So what do ya’ll think?  Do you think these ideas will work for you?  Which is your favorite style tip?
