Something To Chirp About: Macy’s Size-ism Talk

Hey CurvieBirdies.  Last week I told ya’ll about an event at Macys.  I was asked to speak on a panel for Macys about size-ism.  There were four people on the panel; all with different backgrounds speaking on the topic.

So finding what to wear to this event was a bit difficult.  I wanted to dress conservative while still showing my curviebirdie flair to it.  So here is my look!

Cute right?  I know!!!

Here is the outfit breakdown:

Thrifted Jean jacket:                                   $4.50

Thrifted White shirt:                                   $1.25

A little Birdie Told Me . . . Fall Must Haves

This fall, wine is the color of choice.  This color is so hot and can go with everything.  Here are some wine fall must haves:

Luichiny Women's Angel Lina Shoe

Luichiny Women's Angel Lina

Women’s Red Wine Suede Style Stiletto Heel Platform Ankle Shoe Boots

Also, a leather jacket is a must this fall.  A leather jacket can change the look of an entire outfit.  I also recommend a leather skirt just because!!!

So these are my fall picks.  Do you think these are trends you will try?  What do you think about wine color shoes?

Happy Monday Curvies!!!  I am so excited today!  I have been invited to speak at Macy’s Cultural Diversity Panel in John’s Creek, GA.  The topic for the day “Size-ism in the Workplace.”  So there will be a panel of professionals and this ex-model/Curvie blogger talking about our experiences with size-ism.  I will be posting more about what was discussed and other peoples view points later!!!

CurvieBirdie Weekend Finds

Happy Monday!!!  I was not feeling very well this weekend, so I did not do too much.  But Saturday was so pretty in ATL, I had to force myself out of the house to pick up a few things.  I am pretty sure ya’ll know me by now; I got what I needed and a few items I wanted!!

I went to Target for food and household items when the sales signs started calling me, “CurvieBirdie, come look at me!!”  So I did, and here are my finds!!!

These ankle cowboy boots are too cute!!  I feel in love immediately, well almost immediately!  They are going to be a “go to shoe” in my winter wardrobe!!!

This top is super flowy and has am exposed zipper down the back.  Purple is slowing becoming my color this season and I could go wrong with this price.

Standard T-shirt for Mister.  $2.98

Hoodies are an awesome piece to have in any man’s fall collection.  I love the colors on this one.  It can be worn fall, winter, and spring.  Mister will like this one!!!

These are my weekend shopping pleasures.  Its always fun to integrate grocery shopping with great finds like these!!!

So what do you think about the cowboy boots from Target?  I was kinda skeptical at first because I have only purchased sandals from there.  Never a fall shoe.  Have you?  How did you like them?

Komen Foundation.  I would love if some of you CurvieBirdies would come out as well.  Here are the details:

I know that this is a very special cause for many people.  My office has even had some events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Meet Cute CurvieBirdie Shante!!  She helped to organize the decorations at work.

This is Janae who was also involved in organizing the events!!

So what are you doing for Breast Cancer Awareness Month?  Are you attending any events for the cause?

Winterize Your Wardrobe Wednesday

It’s hump day; almost made it through another week!  So I have a small dilemma.  I have all these really cute summer clothes, but the season has changed.  I am not quite ready for sweaters due to me living in the ATL which still has 75 – 80 degree weather.

So what I have decided to do is to “Winterize my Wardrobe.”  In order to do this, you will need a jacket, boots, scarf, or some tights.  I will be doing this for the next few weeks, and you ladies and gents can tell me what you think!!

I am wearing a summer skirt and tank which I would wear during the summer months.  So I added a jean jacket and scarf.  I kept the pink summer bag just for a touch of color.

Outfit Breakdown:

Lane Bryant jean jacket:                                               $old

Target Skirt:                                                                   $5.38

Thrifted tank:                                                                 $1.25

Accessories:                                                                    $25

DSW Boots:                                                                    $55

Total without shoes:                                                $31.63

So what do you think?  Do you plan to winterize your wardrobe?

Something to Chirp About: Wedge Sneakers

Happy Monday CurvieBirdies.  Weekend is over now back to the grind.  I few months ago, I share with you that I had a fetish/obsession with accessories.  Well, I am beginning to get that same feeling with shoes.  I know; it’s sad!!

I have been seeing a trend with these wedge sneakers (gym shoes for my mid-westers).  So I decided to that I may actually try this trend.  I have heard so many great things about these gym shoes.  So check out my picks below:

Ash Colorblock Suede Lace-Up Wedge Sneakers - Black-Taupe-Blue

Ash Colorblock Suede Lace-Up Wedge Sneakers - Black-Taupe-Blue

Saks Fifth Ave $235

I love these, but not sure if I’m willing to spend that much on a trendy shoe.

GoJane combo wedge sneakers  $25.90

These are much more affordable.  Still super cute, but on the low!!

ALDO - Basiline

Aldo Baseline Wedge Heel Sneakers      $90

Sketchers Plus # Wedge Heel Sneakers  $74.99

Steve Madden Olympiaa Wedge Heel Shoes   $99.95

So what do you think of this trend?  Do you like wedge gym shoes?  Do you own a pair?  if so, are they comfortable?
